Twitter’s Safety Mode, Super Follows to come in

Twitter has announced two major updates to its site and apps, namely Safety Mode – a setting allowing the blockage of accounts for unwanted behaviours and Super Follows – a subscription-based access to tweets.

Safety Mode, likely to be favored than Super Follows, could temporarily blocks accounts for a specific period of time like a week. After such period ends, you could check the list of every auto-blocked account, then decide whether to continue blocking them or not.

In an interview, Twitter said it uses AI rather than moderation for this function. Accounts followed by users and those having frequent interactions will not be auto-blocked.

While Safety Mode is in beta and isn’t fully available for now, Super Follows is already live in the US and Canada on iOS, with Android surely to follow suit soon.

Via this paid feature, you could enjoy upcoming highlights like newsletters and “Super Follows-only Spaces” where you are able to speak directly to someone in Twitter Spaces.

To get paid for your tweets, you must reside in the US, have 10,000 followers, be 18 or older, and tweet around once a day at least, then apply to a waitlist. For now, this feature has yet to receive much attention, but soon, if you go to a celebrity’s account page, you may see a bright “Super Follow” button beside their name.

Recently, Twitter has been piloting a plenty of new features, like dislike button, revamping design on Android and iOS, and shutting down Fleets which failed to succeed. It is unclear if Super Follows will have a similar fate or shine in its own right, we’ll have to wait.

Until now, neither feature has been available on the best Android phones yet./.
